To ensure that our clients get consistently effective results in the shortest timeframes possible when it comes to water treatment, the team at DosaFil® is committed to the continual testing, evaluation, and evolution of our products. We carry out tests at the aptly named Innovation House, the head office of DosaFil, and like to share our results.
Our latest test highlights how successful the DosaFil on-line cleaning chemical programme is in the protection of mild steel. The test used the DosaFil-Duo® device together with our online cleaning chemical program.
After just three months, the system fully protected the mild steel, however it didn’t stop there – a further nine months on (a total of 12 months testing), the DosaFil system was still producing the same, superior protection. This is a solution that does “exactly what it says on the tin”.
In October 2019, a simple bench test was set up where 0.5” mild steel threaded nipples were immersed in untreated and DosaFil® treated mains water and left for a period of 3 months.
The test samples were:
Bottle 1 – CONTROL – A 0.5” mild steel nipple cleaned with a clean cotton cloth to remove any oil and grease, then placed in a sealed bottle with a silica gel sachet to prevent moisture ingress.
Bottle 2 – UNTREATED – A 0.5” mild steel nipple cleaned with a clean cotton cloth to remove any oil and grease, then placed in a sealed bottle containing 500ml of untreated towns mains water.
Bottle 3 – TREATED – A 0.5” mild steel nipple cleaned with a clean cotton cloth to remove any oil and grease, then placed in a sealed bottle containing 500ml of towns mains water dosed with DosaFil’s proprietary online cleaning and treatment package consisting of an online dispersant, an online polymer cleaner, a biocide and an inhibitor.
Once the samples were prepared, they were left at room temperature and were only moved when photographed.
The results clearly demonstrate how effective the DosaFil on-line cleaning chemical programme is at protecting mild steel. The photographs below show the results 12 months after the initial test. The water is still clear with no evidence of corrosion or fouling.
